Frequently asked questions
Where does the exchange rate come from?
From you. This converter does not use a live feed, so enter the rate you are quoted. For reference, the State Bank of Pakistan’s interbank (mark-to-market) rate on 22 October 2026 was Rs 276.8522 per US dollar; it is published daily on the SBP website.
What is the difference between the interbank and open market rate?
The interbank rate is the rate at which banks trade with each other. The open market rate is what exchange companies charge you for cash, with a lower buying rate and a higher selling rate. On 22 October 2026, SBP published an interbank rate of Rs 276.85 for the dollar and, from the Exchange Companies Association of Pakistan, open market rates of Rs 277.52 buying and Rs 278.65 selling.
Which rate do I get when I receive money from abroad?
It depends on the bank or transfer service. Each sets its own rate and may charge a fee, so compare the rupee amount your family will actually receive, not just the rate.
How do I convert rupees to dollars?
Divide the rupee amount by the rate. At Rs 280 per dollar, Rs 100,000 buys 100,000 ÷ 280 = 357.14 dollars. To go the other way, multiply: 500 dollars × 280 = Rs 140,000.
Are card payments in dollars converted at this rate?
No. Banks convert foreign card spending at their own rate and many add a fee or tax on top, so check your card statement or ask your bank.
