How this rate is set

NEPRA works out the electricity tariff and the federal government notifies it. Since 12 February 2026, every ex-WAPDA distribution company (LESCO, IESCO, FESCO, GEPCO, MEPCO, PESCO, HAZECO, TESCO, HESCO, SEPCO, QESCO) and K-Electric charge homes the same uniform rates, so a unit costs the same in Lahore, Peshawar or Karachi. The rates change only when a new tariff is notified, not every day, which is why this page is dated by the tariff rather than by today.

Protected homes, those that used 200 units or less in each of the last six months, pay slab by slab: Rs 10.54 a unit for the first 100 units and Rs 13.01 for the next 100. Every other home is unprotected and pays one rate on all its units, set by the slab the month's total reaches: from Rs 22.44 up to 100 units to Rs 47.20 above 700.

The slab rate is not the whole bill. Each month you also pay a fixed charge for every kW of sanctioned load (Rs 200 to Rs 675), the fuel price adjustment and 18% GST. At 2 kW, 200 units cost a protected home about Rs 17.43 a unit all-in and an unprotected home about Rs 37.65.
