How it is calculated
- Total distance = one-way distance, × 2 for a round trip.
- Fuel used (litres) = total distance ÷ mileage.
- Trip cost = litres × price per litre; monthly cost = trip cost × trips per month; each person’s share = cost ÷ people.
Example: an office 25 km away, there and back daily (50 km), a car doing 12 km/litre and petrol at Rs 398.3 a litre. Each day uses 4.17 litres, or Rs 1,660. Over 22 days the monthly cost is Rs 36,511. If three colleagues carpool, each person’s monthly share is Rs 12,170.
Fuel cost per km by mileage (petrol at Rs 398.3 a litre)
| Mileage | Per km | Per 100 km |
|---|---|---|
| 8 km/litre | Rs 49.79 | Rs 4,979 |
| 10 km/litre | Rs 39.83 | Rs 3,983 |
| 12 km/litre | Rs 33.19 | Rs 3,319 |
| 15 km/litre | Rs 26.55 | Rs 2,655 |
| 20 km/litre | Rs 19.92 | Rs 1,992 |
| 40 km/litre | Rs 9.96 | Rs 996 |
| 50 km/litre | Rs 7.97 | Rs 797 |
We do not list mileage for particular car or bike models: there is no official source for it, and real mileage depends on how and where you drive and on the vehicle’s condition. Measure your own and enter it above.
Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate the fuel cost of a trip?
Divide the distance by your vehicle’s mileage (km per litre) to get the litres used, then multiply by the price per litre. A 60 km round trip in a car doing 12 km/litre uses 5 litres; at Rs 400 a litre that is Rs 2,000.
What is today’s petrol price in Pakistan?
The latest notification we checked (Petroleum Division, 10–12 October 2026) set petrol at Rs 398.3 and high speed diesel at Rs 396.24 a litre. These are OGRA’s maximum ex-depot prices; prices are now revised every few days and the pump price can differ slightly by location, so check the latest notification or your pump.
How do I find my car or bike’s real mileage?
Fill the tank to full and reset the trip meter. Drive normally, then fill to full again and note the litres added. Km driven ÷ litres = your mileage. City driving, traffic, AC and load all lower it, so a figure from your own driving is better than the company’s claim.
How do I split fuel cost for a carpool?
Enter the number of people sharing, including the driver if they pay a share. The calculator divides the trip and monthly cost equally. It covers fuel only; tolls, parking and wear on the vehicle are extra.
Does this include tolls or maintenance?
No. It is the fuel cost only. Motorway tolls, parking, oil changes and tyres add to the real cost of driving.
