How this rate is set
The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) notifies the maximum price of LPG once a month, and the new price applies from the first day of the month. One notification covers both locally produced and imported LPG. The price is built from the producer price (with petroleum levy and 18% GST), a fixed margin for marketing, distribution and transport, and GST on that margin.
From 1 October 2026, the maximum price is Rs 3,296.23 for an 11.8 kg domestic cylinder, or Rs 279.34 a kg. The cylinder price is up Rs 244.14 from Rs 3,052.09 on 1 September 2026. This is a ceiling at every level of the supply chain: producers, marketing companies and distributors may sell for less, but not for more. OGRA gives no separate price for the 45.4 kg commercial cylinder, so the note above works it out at the same price per kg.
