What this means for you
The difference is the size of the marla itself. Land revenue records use a marla of 272.25 sq ft (so 160 marla make an acre of 43,560 sq ft), while DHA, Bahria Town and most private societies use 225 sq ft. Some older schemes use 250 sq ft, which makes 10 marla 2,500 sq ft. Before you compare prices, check which marla your file, transfer letter or registry uses.
In square yards, the unit used in Karachi, that is 250 sq yd (225 sq ft marla) or 302.5 sq yd (272.25 sq ft marla). In square metres it is 209.03 or 252.93. Whatever the marla size, one kanal is always 20 marla.
